Correct and sufficient watering is critical to the successful establishment of your lawn. Keep the soil damp or moist, for a prolonged time and of course never allow it to dry out.
Newly planted lawns should not be mowed until the young plants are firmly rooted. Avoid traffic over the lawn during the establishment period. Retain a high cut setting for the first two to three cuts, as it encourages horizontal growth and subsequent matting.
The mower setting can thereafter be gradually reduced. The newly planted lawn can be cut on a regular basis. The application of a light top dressing, to fill in any hollows, to the newly established lawn, will assist in providing a really smooth finish.
Apply the dressing to the lawn only when it has matted and immediately after a fairly low cut.
